By The Red Phone Box is a small, cosy, off grid camping and glamping site near Tenbury Wells, Worcester. With 2 bell tents (only 1 currently due to covid) and a few grass pitches, this is the perfect place if you want something more intimate. In the middle of beautiful Worcestershire countryside, with plenty of pretty walks on the doorstep. Fire pits are available and wood can be purchased. There is usually a little honesty shop although this was closed during our stay due to covid, and a kitchen area in both small fields. Recycling bins are available too, though we would love to see a food waste bin too.

The campsite is set on a farm, and my daughter was lucky enough to be taken to see some of the animals by owner, Emma, which she loved!

The glamping options come on a timber frame and are furnished so very convenient and cosy (the other bell tent pictured is our own!) The toilet and shower block is a converted horse box, with washing up facilities on the outside. It’s very cute and one of the best, cleanest feeling compost loo we have come across! There really was no smell, and you get a ‘proper’ toilet seat to sit on! Water is heated by gas and the shower was very hot and powerful, perfect for when you have that icky camping feeling and want a decent shower just like at home.

Of course because it is off grid, there is no electrical hook up, so remember power packs if you really need a fully charged phone! We took a trip in to Worcester to visit family and hunt through some charity shops. We also found a cute zero waste shop called Pack It In, and a fully vegan cafe, Be The Change, where we got a delicious take away lunch. The cafe had a whole host of cakes and cookies, as well as hot lunches for adults and kids, and they were really friendly. If you happen to be in to wild swimming there is a spot near Worcester at Powick Bridge. We saw some big fish in there though!

Back at the campsite we toasted marshmallows on the fire and enjoyed the peacefulness.

There were plenty of measures in place for current times, such as cleaning products to wipe around the facilities after each use, and a clock outside the shower to let others know what time you left which allows the shower to air a bit between uses.

This campsite is suitable for families and couples, but not groups or parties, due to the fact it is small and gatherings would disturb other campers. Having said that there is still space to enjoy, and the owners have plans to expand the site, with a whole new field dedicated to tents with it’s own separate facilities. We enjoyed our stay, and particularly liked that you don’t have to walk far to the loo or washing up and in normal circumstances the outdoor kitchens would be very useful.

Make sure you check out some of the local produce. There was apple juice for sale on site and there is a whole section on their website about local produce where you can also order products for your stay. You can find out more about the local area and what to do on their website too, with many beautiful villages and towns nearby and Wyre Forest just half an hour away.
